Dear 2020…Thank You!

Take the glam away, and what do you have? The year 2020 where everything froze and melted into a new reality. Sometimes you have to make a huge negative into an even bigger positive, and I don’t know about you but I’m not looking back, I’m only moving forward. Change is so hard, and I can’t say I am the best at it, but If i can’t grow, then I am standing still, and I realized all I want to do is move! BIG change requires BIG growth. Moving to Maine 8 years ago, getting married, having a baby, going out on my own as a hairstylist, moving salons in the middle of the pandemic, doubling my clientele within 3 months. BRING IT ON!! This year has brought more anxiety and stress than I ever could have imagined but it has made me who I am and brought me right where I am supposed to be. Glam might have stepped out the door in March 2020, masks now covering our faces. Full face makeup has changed to eyes only and possibly half a face of foundation if you’re feeling particularly fancy that day. This has literally opened up the hair industry to a new stereo type. We are not only viewed as ESSENTIAL, but we are also viewed as more than just a pretty face with nice hair. We are artists, creators, listeners, advisors, adapters, supporters, nurturers… all in all we are what you need us to be. I know 2020 has helped me see A LOT clearer now, the little things matter more, things that would bother me in the past won’t bother me now. Everything is here in my path for a reason and I will use it to grow stronger than ever.

I am a firm believer in hard work pays off, and also in manifesting that shit! Being out of work from March to May gave me a lot of time to think. It made me realize how much I love my career and the good I can do for the world starting with myself! My purpose in my career is yes to be “busy”(that is literally how I make money), but also to provide a superb service, and build a strong healthy relationship with my clients. I REALLY wanted to provide this experience for you, and send you out into the day happy and confident, so I got to work! As a hairstylist I am here to serve you, and be who you need me to be, while authentically being me. 18 years in the industry has taught me a lot, most of these lessons have been learned in the past 5 years. You come in to get great hair but you also want to feel special, and receive a special service. For me to provide this service for you, It is a constant PRACTICE of techniques, and personal interactions. I am here to make you feel good inside and out, and I will work my ass off to provide you with the best experience I can give. YOU teach me so much, and I am grateful for each and every one you!

Hairstyling has been a passion of mine for many years, and 2020 has brought more purpose into my career then I could ever imagine. Getting our hair done is a luxury that we realized we really can’t live without or want to live without. With all the stress and anxiety going on in our world right now the routine haircut, blow out, or color can completely change our outlook in our lives. I don’t know about you, but when I feel confident and good about myself I feel like I can conquer the world. I’m not talking about taking cute selfies for instagram(please tag me :P), I’m talking about finding your groove again, feeling motivated to conquer work, getting to talk to someone in person instead of a zoom meeting or chatting with your 3 year old child.

My point to this note is THANK YOU 2020, I appreciate you for all your bumps and bruises, your obstacles, and challenges, and the beautiful moments within. THANK YOU to all of my clients for your love and support, all of your referrals, and positive advice. You might not know it, but you have changed my life for the better. THANK YOU to my husband and daughter, my biggest supporters. Whenever I was down Greye would remind me “Mom, Be so good they can’t ignore you”(insert tears). My husband, my partner, is always building me up and pushing me to be my best self. THANK YOU Lauren for being my biggest motivator and mentor. I go into 2021 stronger than ever and will continue to grow and provide the best service I can for you! I hope that each time you see me you leave happier, feel more confident, and go out and slay the day!. Happy New Year!
